Kensington Race One Number Seven Tunahog
Most interesting runner of the day in Sydney. Looked very good in his first and only preparation when last in
work, which saw him win three races and finish fourth behind the smart galloper Listen Son, who I think is a
good thing at Brisbane later on in the day. The trainer wouldn’t have brought him here for nothing and Ben
Looker has come to Sydney for this ride only when he could have had a full book in Queensland. Follow this
gelding with confidence.
Kensington Race Three Number Three Skytrain
On face value, yes, he was disappointing first up. Was given every chance by Corey Brown but found a
couple too strong on the line. He’ll be much better off with that run under him and from gate three he’ll get
the run of the race. McEvoy jumps on board which is a plus given he knows the horse very well. He’ll be
short, but he’ll win.
Sandown Race One Number Nine The Counterfeiter
If punters are able to get a replay of this blokes debut run, please do so because his run was much better
than what the print form says. He got hampered severely and in the end was only beaten 4.2 lengths. He’ll
appreciate the turning track and the long straight of Sandown. He doesn’t meet a strong field here and
definitely is a solid each-way bet.
Sandown Race Seven Number Seven Wookah
Got a long way back and ran on well behind The Big Steel on Oaks day at Flemington. Has always shown
talent, his two wins from 22 starts doesn’t really reflect true form. From gate 11 he’ll drift back and try and
come home over the top with one run. Drops in grade and weight, the price is right, back him both totes.
Eagle Farm Race One Number Ten Midnight Minx
260K purchase who really caught the eye on debut behind Pane In The Glass. She was all over the shop,
had no idea what to do so expect her to improve big time on that run. A better draw here should see her a
bit closer to the speed and having race experience in these summer juvenile races is a big bonus. Back her
with confidence.
Eagle Farm Race Seven Number Six Listen Son
In his two runs this preparation, he has made his rivals look ordinary. He has been quite simply arrogant in
his performances. Has to rise to Listed company against the older, more seasoned horses, and he hasn’t
won at 1600m but he gives the impression he’ll run it out strongly. He’ll get across to the fence and then take
a sit on Rockdale, who will be a danger at good odds given the forecast for rain.
Morphettville Race Four Number Five Drivel
Hit the line well last time out behind Budriguez, who controlled the race from the front. She has staying
bloodlines (Thunder Gulch, sire of the dam Tully Thunder) so the step up to 1950m will be in her favour. If
the pace is on, watch out for her to be motoring home at the end.
Morphettville Race Six Number Three Ready Miss
Former John O’Shea galloper now in the care of Richard Jolly. Her best form has always come when fresh
and she looked sharp in a recent barrier trial win. From gate one she’ll be right near the speed but if need be
she can take a sit because the speed should a cracker with several other runners having an on-pace style of
racing.
